Walking Wounded
Frailty, resilience, and the complex emotions triggered by witnessing trauma in public spaces.
Walking Wounded follows bandages, braces and marked bodies moving through ordinary streets. Injury becomes publicly readable, even when the person carrying it has not chosen the meanings others attach to it.
The series keeps the act of looking inside the work. Some subjects return the gaze and unsettle the photographer’s authority; others remain unaware, intensifying the imbalance between being visible and controlling how one is seen.
The photographs withhold spectacle and resist easy stories of tragedy or triumph. They hold vulnerability and persistence together while asking what responsibility belongs to the photographer and viewer when another person’s pain enters the frame.
