Planted Matter follows plants as they are carried, transported and otherwise moved through streets, transit systems and other built environments. Balance, protection and awkward scale turn routine movement into choreography.
The plants appear vulnerable against concrete, glass and traffic, but they are not passive decoration. Their presence depends on human attention while also interrupting the city’s hard geometry with another form of life.
The series avoids sentimentalizing these encounters. It asks what becomes visible when urban nature is understood as a relationship maintained through effort, movement and care, and what happens when that relationship breaks down. Plants circulate through the city as possessions, commodities, companions and, eventually, discarded matter — participating in urban life rather than merely softening its appearance.
